Saya punya sistem openSUSE 11.0 sebagai server dengan sistem LTSP dengan 2 nic, satu sebagai card jaringan dan yang satu sebagai card internet yang tersambung ke ADSL. Akhirnya warnet kami resmi memakai openSUSE 11.00 + KIWI-LTSP, Setelah pesanan CDnya datang, saya langsung install di my kompie. Memang gampang install openSUSE 11.0. namun tak selamanya instalasi berjalan mulus. Instalasi pertama dicoba di motherboard Asus P5GC-MX/GBL tidak berjalan sesuai dengan keinginan karena ethernet card onboard (eth0) tidak berfungsi sebagaimana mestinya. Kalau dilihat dari Network Devices | Network Setting | Overview, ethernet card dikenali dengan baik namun itupun kadang timbul kadang tenggelam dan lampu led indikator koneksi pada ethernet card tidak menyala. Setelah googling, permasalahannya memang ethernet card tersebut tidak dapat berjalan dengan baik untuk instalasi dengan platform 32 bit (mohon koreksi kalau keliru). Karena ada motherboard yang lain, saya coba instalasi menggunakan motherboard tsb. (saya lupa merknya) akhirnya ethernet card VT6102 [Rhine-II] (onboard) berfungsi dengan baik, openSUSE mengenali dan memberikan kernel modul via-rhine.

Aku dan istriku hampir tidak ngomongan ketika aku dengan sepihak memutuskan untuk migrasi sistem operasi warnet kami (sebetulnya belum layak sih dikatakan warnet) yang mempunyai sistem operasi Win XP (yang pastinya bajakan) menjadi Linux. Server dan client (4 client) sama-sama menggunakan sistem operasi Win XP, sekat antar client juga masih seadanya, pemakainya juga masih serombongan (maklum anak ecempe dan cema-cema). Rumah kontrakan kami yang sekaligus dijadikan tempat usaha mulai dari cetak foto digital, rental komputer dan turunannya beserta warnet yang masih jauh dari standar warnet sebenarnya, cukup menolong sebagai tambahan penghasilan sampingan selain dari gajiku PNS golongan III-a yang cukup pas-pasan.
